I saw this hawk soaring over Irvine CA yesterday. I am not a dedicated birder but spend a good deal of time outdoors hiking and love to see hawks. I do carry my bird book with me at all times. I know my hawks and this was a pure white one. And albino red tail makes perfect sense, we have many regular red tails around; in fact a nesting pair each year in the eucs next door. Any how, I was glad to have an explanation as I had not ever heard of a white phase red tail. Bill
